Bach in Jazz

The Swingle Singers were mostly a cappella vocal group formed in 1962 in Paris, France with Ward Swingle, Anne Germain, Jeanette Baucomont and Jean Cussac. Christiane Legrand, the sister of composer Michel Legrand, was the lead soprano in the original French group. There were a total of eight members in the group: two sopranos, two altos, two tenors and two basses.

Enjoy the Bach with Swingle Singers – Bach transcribed for a Jazz vocal performance. Awesome performance.

    Ajay,

I discovered the amazing Swingle Singers – in 1962-’63.

That’s a very peculiar thing of my past – I was an advanced student of Jazz at the age of 12-12 but then all these years I never knew that a photographic memory and a yen for scholastic approach to jazz could be my strength !

Just as one does not realize that speaking or writing well in English or Gujarati or Urdu could be a strength too…. !

Thanks for the link…. though I have haunted almost all major p2p websites, Swingle Singers were not found !

    Thanks and hugz

The music so mellow , so beautiful though I miss the tinge of spiritual pain that Bach’s fugue are laced with.
But this group is truly beautiful. They have classic balance between Jazz and Classical.

Thank you for sharing this gem… It just fills by heart with warmth
