Well I am amazed. The little poem Benzene has taken on a life of its own and I am really honored that it is being used in a University Syllabus (or indeed being read at all).

For some explanation on the poem. see:

http://pubs.acs.org/subscribe/archive/tcaw/11/i09/pdf/902light.pdf

But if Wilson wants to get in touch directly via the e-mail above more than welcome. I would love to hear from you.

Best Regards

The poem Benzene is included in the syllabus of Semester IV students of the Kannur University in Kerala.

AS I am a lecturer who has to teach this poem, I would like to hear directly from the author.
Please be kind enough to send me an explanation.
This poem is taught to students who dont study chemistry. That is why such an explanation is essential

Congrats for your fine poem. It is part of the curriculum in a university
Hope to hear from you

Being a chemical engineer and this poem of blake being one of the few english poems that i know well, i was very amused by this funny twist. bravo!

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
