In school too, Physics, Chemistry , Maths etc have been given more importance during our schooling , for reasons being so called "SCORING Subjects" and them having more Job opportunities. The reason being , we as a society , more so in post Independence period , gave no worthiness to Liberal Arts & Communication. -Science , Maths and Accountancy have always been the obvious choice. Communications is the core of the Liberal Arts, be it through Letters, News Papers, Novels, Short Stories, Music , Poetry , Architecture, Photography or Films. Just ask any Science Engineering Graduate to write a simple Letter of Intent and shall fumble and flounder. What we do not realise that Poetry & Music composed even a hundreds of year ago still finds relevance in our lives , far more than any other discipline. Indeed the Best and Brightest have never been nurtured to take up Arts.
