Sinatra/Jobim: The Complete Reprise Recordings celebrates one of the most historic collaborations in popular music history. The album features 20 Sinatra/Jobim classics, including “Dindi,” “How Insensitive (Insensatez),” “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars (Corcovado),” and “The Girl from Ipanema,” plus three never-before-released tracks.
This all-new compilation by Concord Records released in May -2010 collects all the Sinatra/Jobim Reprise recordings together in one package for the very first time. Tracks 1-10 comprise “one of the most rewarding albums of the 60s” (All Music Guide). Tracks 12-18 are available for the first time in almost 20 years. I have this album since years ago and it has brought a lot of joy to my friends and I.
I still remember the morning in Santa Monica, California, when driving, I heard on npr that Stan Getz just died in Malibu; I had no idea who he is but the second that I heard “The girl from ipanema”, I knew…
I stopped my car at the first music store and bought a full set (4 cassettes!) of his Bossa Nova music and the rest is history!
My family and friends are all devotees of Bossa Nova: Stan Getz, João Gilberto and Antonio Jobim.
I saw Astrud Gilberto (who became a singer because they didn’t have anybody else) at the Blue note in NY way later… and sinatra and Jobim came to me years after that fateful morning in 1991…
